Each coin has two sides: the yang side (usually the side with Chinese characters) and the yin side. The combination of the three coins determines a line. If all three coins show the yang side, it is a solid yang line. If all three show the yin side, it is a broken yin line. If there are two yang and one yin, it is a changing yang line, and if there are two yin and one yang, it is a changing yin line. Repeat the coin - tossing process six times to form a hexagram.
